Graduate Development Program

The Clean Energy Regulator Graduate Development Program will provide you with the opportunity to develop well-rounded knowledge of the work of the agency, gain experience in the public sector and develop a deep understanding of Australia’s biggest policy developments.

Participants of the 2022 Graduate Program will experience:

  • three rotations over a 11-month program, commencing February 2022
  • the opportunity to provide preferences for two of the rotations
  • an intensive and engaging development program which has been aligned with the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC)
  • a comprehensive calendar of learning and development, networking events and activities (APSC)
  • the opportunity to produce and present a major project by collaborating with other graduates
  • a mentor and buddy program to help develop new skills and help you align your experience and knowledge with the agency

Rotations

During your graduate year, you will work in three areas of our agency. The rotations structure allows us to give our graduates a wide range of experiences. By working across business areas, graduates develop an understanding of the agency’s work in the administration of climate change policies and regulation of carbon and renewable energy markets.

Training and career development

Throughout the program you will be provided with the necessary training and development required to be effective in your role and to provide you with the foundation skills required to launch your APS career. Through participation in the program, graduates will gain relevant knowledge and skills in government administration as well as the expertise required to be an effective technical specialist within the Clean Energy Regulator.

Organisational support

In addition to formal training you will also receive individual support from Buddy’s (former Graduates), Mentors (Executive staff from the Agency) and from the Graduate Coordinator. As a Graduate you will also have the opportunity to be involved in events management for the agency’s social club.

The Clean Energy Regulator is looking for individuals with the ability to:

Eligibility

To be eligible for this program, you will need to:

  • have completed an undergraduate degree or higher in the last three years or be in your last year of study (to be completed by January 2022),
  • have maintained a credit (or equivalent) average throughout the degree,
  • be an Australian citizen or receive Australian citizenship status by January 2022,
  • be willing to relocate to Canberra (relocation assistance will be offered to the successful applicants), and
  • be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance to a minimum of Baseline level.
