About Clyde & Co

  • Law

Clyde & Co is a dynamic, rapidly-expanding global law firm focused on providing a complete legal service to clients in our core sectors – insurance, trade & Commodities, energy, transport and infrastructure – which place the firm at the heart of global trade and commerce.

With 2,000 legal professionals operating from 45 offices and associated offices across six continents, we advise corporates, financial institutions, private individuals, and governments across a wide range of contentious and transactional matters.

With a strong emerging markets focus, the firm has tripled in size in the last 6 years and is one of the fastest-growing law firms in the world with ambitious plans for further growth.
While we operate at the very highest level of our profession and are respected around the world for our expertise, we have also created a friendly, open and dynamic environment in which our lawyers enjoy working and can realise their own personal ambitions. We deeply value our employees’ initiative and contributions and we want them to fulfil their ambitions with us.

Within Australia, our core practises areas are corporate & commercial, dispute resolution, employment, international arbitration, projects & construction, regulatory and workplace health & safety.

The Summer Clerkship program is aimed at penultimate year law students. This scheme is designed to give you your first taste of working life in an international law firm.
Summer Clerks at Clyde & Co will gain exposure to all our niche practice areas, working alongside our partners and senior lawyers on a broad range of engaging matters. We take a very hands-on approach to our program to give clerks valuable insight into how we operate; you can expect to be involved in real legal work and provided with many client-facing opportunities.
There will be a variety of social events, allowing you to network with colleagues from across the firm and give you an insight into our people and culture.

Recruitment
  • The best thing about Clyde & Co is that, although it is a large international firm, it has the feel of a smaller firm - the reason being, from the beginning you are given autonomy, responsibility and meaningful tasks.
  • Great work culture and friendly team. Good work/life balance. I have worked in several law firms and can say that Clyde & Co is truly a gem among law firms.
  • My team's partners and senior lawyers are wonderful mentors and exceptionally kind and vibrant people. They strike a great balance between delivering the work, meeting deadlines, and not taking life too seriously.
  • The level of responsibility I am given is good for my development but not burdensome.
  • The friendly and approachable nature of all employees.
  • Pay is mid-level.
  • We have high billable targets - we are asked to bill between 6.5 - 7 hours per day, which is frustrating if you are a junior and have little control over the work you are allocated.

There is no set formula for the ‘perfect' employee. Clyde & Co looks for people who offer something new rather than homogeny. To be successful at Clyde & Co, you don’t need to know everything, but be adaptable and willing to learn.
